Minimum of three (3) years of service in the rank of an Assistant Inspector General of Kenya Police.

A. Master’s degree in any of the following fields:

Constitutional Compliance:

  • Fulfilling the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, on Leadership and Integrity.

Professional Competence:

  • High degree of professional competence and administrative capability required for effective planning, direction, control, and coordination of National Police Service functions.

For appointment to this rank, an officer must have:

Service Experience:

Possess a minimum of three (3) years of service in the rank of Commissioner of Kenya Police.

Educational Attainment:

A. Hold a Master’s degree in any of the following fields:

  • Criminology
  • Law
  • Police Science
  • Education
  • Security Management and Police Work
  • Public Administration
  • Strategic Management
  • Leadership and Security Management
  • Human Resource Management
  • Peace Building and Conflict Management
  • Physical Education

B. Possess a Bachelor’s degree in any of the specified fields, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

Certification:

  • Obtain a certificate in Strategic Leadership and Command Programme from a recognized institution, lasting not less than three (3) months or its equivalent.
  • Alternatively, hold a certificate in Strategic Leadership and Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks.

Disciplinary Record

  • Maintain a clean disciplinary record with no convictions or adverse reports in the last six (6) months.

Constitutional Compliance

  • Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, focusing on Leadership and Integrity.

For appointment to this rank, an officer must have:

Service Tenure:

  • Possess a minimum of three (3) years of service in the rank of Senior Superintendent of Kenya Police.

Educational Qualifications:

Attain a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields:

  • Criminology
  • Law
  • Police Science
  • Education
  • Security Management and Police Work
  • Public Administration

  • Human Resource Management
  • Peace Building and Conflict Management

  • Maintain a clean disciplinary record with no convictions for the last six (6) months.

Constitutional Adherence:

Served in the rank of Superintendent of Kenya Police for a minimum period of three (3) years.
